Learn from Fiverr Review [2020]

You have probably heard about Fiverr before, the freelancer marketplace. In 2018 Fiverr started its online course platform Learn from Fiverr specifically targeted to teach new skills to freelancers.

In this article, we’re going to review Learn from Fiverr and help you decide whether it is for you or not.

Let’s start with a question.

What kind of courses Learn from Fiverr offer?

Learn from Fiverr is curated specifically for freelancers in mind. This doesn’t mean that you can’t take these courses unless you are a freelancer but do know that courses are designed towards them.

You will learn practical skills that you can earn money from rather than theoretical information.

The courses are mainly about marketing and design, the main categories in Learn are: Design & Branding, Adobe CC, Digital Marketing, Storytelling & Voice Over, Web & SEO.

As well as offering courses (or classes), Learn offers Programs that are designed to teach you a skill set needed for doing gigs in that specific field.

(You can find some courses and programs at the end of this article.)

You may already know that there are hundreds of freelancers from almost any field in Fiverr. While some of the freelancers are at least good enough to make money; some of them are struggling to find freelance gigs and getting negative reviews.

The main reason is usually those freelancers don’t have enough skills to execute what the customers ask for and therefore they are buried deep in the pages of Fiverr, to be not found again.

Learn from Fiverr is here to solve this problem with the courses and programs they offer to teach you to become a successful freelancer that can ask for high prices without any refrain.

You can, of course, learn these skills from anywhere else but as far as I know there is not a single course provider other than Fiverr that has courses specifically curated for becoming a better freelancer. Especially Learn form Fiverr Programs does a good job of teaching you how to become a freelancer.

Is Learn from Fiverr worth it?

Is Learn from Fiverr worth it?

Learn from Fiverr offers high quality courses instructed by highly acclaimed professionals (like Jon Youshaei, the product manager worked for YouTube and Instagram, he is in the list of Forbes 30 Under 30). Besides the instructors, the video quality is generally top notch.

The quality of the courses is very good compared to some other course providers but that does not solely mean that it is worth your money.

Program prices in Learn start from $67 and course prices start from $20.

They are not the most expensive prices out there, but they are also not cheap for sure.

If you just want to grab a skill and learn it for your own pleasure, I don’t think Learn from Fiverr is right for you. Go for Skillshare, LinkedIn Learning or Udemy as they offer cheaper prices. (You can see a comparison between these and Learn couple of paragraphs below.)

But if you want to learn a skill set to make money out of it as your main job or as a side gig, I would go for Learn from Fiverr.

If you choose other course providers, you may lose your way and find out you are lacking some skills that are needed for a freelance gig. But if you choose Fiverr’s Learn, assuming it has courses in the field you are interested in, you can more easily turn your skills into a freelance gig. Also, you will get slick badges in your seller profile which may convert into more sales.

Of course learning never stops; you should always look for ways to improve yourself and pick new skills up. If you want to develop yourself as a freelancer you may want to keep your eye on YouTube, Skillshare, LinkedIn Learning etc. after you have the foundational skill set.

Learn from Fiverr Pros & Cons

Pros of Learn from Fiver

Cons of Learn from Fiver

Can Learn from Fiverr get you a job or freelance gigs?

A course or a Program won’t get you a job, freelance gig or make you money by itself. You need to learn as much as you can and showcase the skills you learned from the courses.

There are people that cannot get a job (or a freelance gig for that matter) with a 4-year university degree.

You should create a portfolio of your work and maybe offer cheap prices to get started. Most of the courses in Learn from Fiverr have “exercises” to get you started with portfolio building. But don’t just stop there, always try to find ways to show your skills.

But!

Learn from Fiverr will display a badge on your Fiverr seller profile after you completed a course which may turn into more sales since the customer can see you are eligible for the job.

Also, Fiverr says this:

“Additionally, after completing a course on Learn, your gigs are likely to gain more visibility in the marketplace and get noticed more.”

Hmm… They are not explicitly saying that they will favor your freelance gigs if you have completed a course but this can be interpreted as they may show your profile to more customers which may turn into more sales.

So, Learn from Fiverr can help you to get freelance gigs on Fiverr platform but you should always try to keep growing your portfolio.

Does Learn from Fiverr offer refunds?

Yes, you can refund your purchased courses within 30 days. The refund process normally takes less than 10 days.

Disclaimer: If you have completed the course you will not be eligible to refund courses.

If you have purchased a Program you can ask for a fund for courses you have not completed only. For example, you cannot refund a Program with 3 courses if you have completed 2 of them, but you can refund the course that you have not completed yet.

You can contact Learn from Fiverr support to refund your courses.

Features of Learn from Fiverr

Learn offers standard features you are looking for in a course provider website like closed captions and video speed settings.

There are course files for some courses that you can download or display in your browser.

To make sure you are learning, courses have quizzes at the end of chapters and a final quiz at the end of the course. Therefore, your focus will be sharp throughout the course because you know there is a quiz coming.

Does Learn from Fiverr have a mobile app?

No, unfortunately. But you can follow courses through your mobile browser without problems.

Can I download courses for offline viewing?

Nope. You can only follow courses if you have a working internet connection.

Comparison: Learn From Fiver vs. Skillshare, Udemy, Linkedin Learning

Learn From Fiver vs. Skillshare, Udemy, Linkedin Learning (Lynda)

Skillshare vs. Learn from Fiverr

Quality of the courses in SkillShare is usually good. Both course providers have courses targeted towards designers and marketers. You can learn basically the same skills from each of them.

While SkillShare offers lots of courses with a monthly subscription, Learn from Fiverr’s approach is to get you develop a full skill set to earn money and you are paying for once.

It is not to say that one is better than the other, but their functions are different in my opinion.

SkillShare is superb for developing your already established skills; learning new things in your field and catching up with the trends.

Learn from Fiverr on the other hand is to establish the skills to start freelancing. But SkillShare is a good alternative for Learn from Fiverr if you manage to curate courses you need to take to develop a skill.

Price Comparison:

Course Provider Payment Model Pricing
Skillshare Monthly Subscription $10/month
Learn from Fiverr One time payment Min:$20

Udemy vs. Learn from Fiverr

Udemy is a marketplace for online courses, the quality of courses varies vastly between course to course. Just like Fiverr’s Learn, Udemy courses can be bought with one time payment and course prices are usually cheap (around $10 per course).

The main difference between the two is that you need to curate your own course schedule in Udemy rather than taking them as a package of curated courses for freelancers from Fiverr.

Also, you may have hard time finding the right courses in Udemy since they accept (almost) any course in their platform; there are low quality courses in Udemy.

If you are looking for cheap courses and don’t want a monthly subscription go for Udemy but don’t forget that you need to separate the wheat from the chaff to find the right course for you.

LinkedIn Learning (Lynda) vs. Learn from Fiverr

LinkedIn Learning has a monthly subscription model (and also offers one time payment option). The quality of the courses are very good and there are learning paths you can follow. LinkedIn Learning is especially good for learning how to use a software (like, Adobe Illustrator, MS Office Excel).

If you prefer a course provider that is not specifically designed for freelancers, LinkedIn Learning can be a good alternative to Learn from Fiverr.

Price comparison:

Course Provider Payment Model Pricing
Linkedin Learning Monthly Subscription $29.99/month
Learn from Fiverr One time payment Min:$20

Review Summary

If you want to become a freelancer, Learn from Fiverr will benefit you greatly; they are designed for “you”. But if you already have enough skills that you can convert into money -or if you are looking to grab a skill as a hobby- Fiverr Learn is not for you; try SkillShare, LinkedIn Learning and Udemy to develop your skills.
